|THOMAS RAY AVERY, son of Ebon L. and Virginia M. Ogle Avery, was born August 22, 1942, in Richland, Missouri, and departed this life March 1, 2013, in Sedalia, Missouri, at the age of seventy years.
Thomas made a profession of faith in Christ at a young age and at the time of his passing was a member of Independence Baptist Church in Richland, where he attended as long as his health allowed. The friendships he made with his church family were very important to him.
On December 26, 1998, Thomas united in marriage with Delores Frank. Prior to his passing, he and Delores had shared fourteen years of love and laughter together.
Thomas was a hard worker. He worked as a mechanic for the United States Government for more than twenty years, before his retirement in 2004. He also worked for Tracker Marine in Lebanon, Missouri for a period of time. Those who had the pleasure of working with him appreciated his expertise and attention to detail. He was also a captain on the Hazelgreen Fire Department for many years.
When he wasn’t working, and after his retirement, Thomas took time to enjoy his favorite pastimes. He was a Charter member of the Travelous Square Dance Club at Ft. Leonard Wood. He found the perfect dance partner in Delores, and they enjoyed sharing that hobby together. He was an avid bass fisherman, and enjoyed traveling with his wife, taking pride in his red Ranchero. Twinkies and cold Pepsi, where always by his side.
Thomas leaves to celebrate his memory, his wife Delores; two step-sons, Richard Frank and his wife Cheri of Smithville, MO and Michael Frank and his wife Katie of Brooklyn, NY; one brother, Jerry Don Avery and his wife Norma of Lebanon, MO; one sister, Janice Kay Davidson of Richland, MO; four grandchildren, Jacob, Lauren, Veronica and Owen Frank; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jimmy Lee and Ebon Lester, Jr.; one sister, Patricia Ledbetter; one brother-in-law, Keith Davidson.
Thomas will be remembered for his fun-loving nature and ability to make those around him smile. We will miss the laughter, but cherish the memories, he will be greatly missed.
